A Vintage Fashion Show

So one day last summer on the cabin porch, I'm reading one of my vintage entertaining books and get an inspiration (that porch is perfect for providing inspiration).  Wouldn't it be fun to put together a vintage fashion show for our annual Mother/Daughter banquet?  I immediately wrote a little ten-minute message for the ending of the program about creating a heritage of beauty by choosing to adorn ourselves in lovely spiritual garments.  When I got home, I called Mom (who has a little vintage clothing business) to see if she'd be game for the idea.  She loved it and immediately helped me start hatching my plan.  Fast forward to two weeks ago: With the help of four girls who served as our models, we presented a fascinating program of fashion history through the decades from the early 1900's into the 1990's.  It. was. a. blast.  The ladies loved it, the models had so much fun, and Mom and I enjoyed every minute of it.  (Though we were exhausted by the time we finished hauling around 30 dresses and all their accessories.)  E. took photos for us and you'll see a few of the fashions below:

A retro dress to represent the early 1900's -

A handmade wedding gown from the 1930's -

So totally Jackie O. from the '60s -

One of my favorites - an ethereal mother-of-the-bride gown from the '70s -

Oh, that looks like so much fun! I remember doing something similar at a tea at the church a long time ago ;)
