Thank You, LORD . . .

For my little kitchen chalkboard -
5535.) for the incredibly fun time that Mom and I had putting on a vintage fashion show at our Mother/Daughter Banquet on Saturday night - what a blast!
5536.) for the beauty of my herbs nestled in the windowboxes and flower beds
5537.) for the vintage 1960's Schwinn Twinn double-seater bike that Marty bought me at a yard sale, destined for the cabin, and for the fun we had Sunday afternoon test-driving it
5538.) for the used book sale that M. and I fortuitously came upon Friday night, resulting in another Gladys Taber book and my own copy of a favorite vintage story, The Gown of Glory (50 cents each!!)
5539.) that Eli's "campground" saw a lot of action last night - filled with a big pile of kids and pick-up trucks for an impromptu bonfire of hot dogs and popcorn on a gorgeous spring Sunday evening
5540.) for the beautiful new pussywillow tree that a friend gifted me with this weekend
5541.) that we have bee hives again - they seem to have taken happily to their new home in the middle of the fruit garden
5542.) for the encouraging message we heard at the nursing home yesterday about being observant to where God is working and what He's doing in our hearts and in the lives of others - not trying to force His hand or timing but being open and obedient to the leading of the Spirit - good stuff
5543.) for a trip to our favorite Friday night market and all our booty - giant, hot soft pretzels; sausage and onion sandwiches; fresh grapes and bananas for breakfast; Cabin Crunch trail mix and toasted corn for snacks; and fresh herb and vegetable plants for the garden
5544.) for another read-through of Psalms and the great last line of the book: "Let everything that breathes praise the LORD. Praise the LORD!" (Psalm 150:6)
5545.) that You, and only You, have the ability and power to slay the "Anakites" in my life (Deuteronomy 9:1-6) - help me to trust You
5546.) that You let me choose between living a life of blessing or one of cursing (Deuteronomy 11:26-28)
5547.) that Paul and Barnabas worked at making the followers of Jesus stronger and helping them to stay in the faith (Acts 14:22) - O God, thank You that the desire to lift up and strengthen my siblings in You beats in my heart - make it stronger
5548.) that in letting You guide me in the way of Wisdom, nothing will hold me back or overwhelm me (Proverbs 4:11-12)
5549.) that Wisdom is like flowers in my hair and a beautiful crown on my head (Proverbs 4:9) - what a lovely picture, Abba - make it so

Julie, this list spoke to my heart like none other you've written! E.v.e.r.y. line touched my soul and resonated with who I am!! What you love, I love. What you are thankful for, I am thankful for. I've never met you but unlike any other person (and w.a.y. more than a favorite Gladys because you represent Christ to me) that I "read," you are the closest "me" I have found! ha. If I took apart each of your lists and comment on the similarities and like-mindedness, you would get scared and think I was stalking you or something -hee- but be assured that we are a kind of God's "twins" in the kingdom. I am thankful to have "known" you these past many years by way of your newsletter and posts...
Thank you for faithfully modeling Christian womanhood for me and your other friends, Lori

Wow, Lori - I am humbled and honored by your comments. Your words give me great joy as it confirms that what I desire - to encourage and strengthen and minister to others - is being fulfilled. And though we may never meet this side of eternity, I look forward to getting to know you, my sister-in-the-LORD, One Day in our true Home. Thank you for taking the time to connect with me so often. I, too, am thankful and count it a privilege to know you. You have blessed my heart, yet again, this day. Thanks, my friend.
