Bow Tic-Tac-Toe

A few of the kids warming up -

Ben going for another "X" spot for his team -

Archery season is nearly upon us, and there certainly is a lot of excitement around here.  The guys wanted to get in some target practice and invited a dozen or so friends and cousins over yesterday afternoon to join them.

To make things a little more interesting, they got their practice in with a game that a friend of our's came up with - Bow Tic-Tac-Toe.  Two teams were formed - the X's and the O's.  One person at a time, alternating between teams, took a shoot at a straw barrier set up with three rows of three balloons - some regular size, some tiny water balloons.  If you made your shot by breaking a balloon, an X or O (depending on which team you were on) would be placed in the corresponding space on a white board.  The object was to be the first team to get tic-tac-toe.

The afternoon was a hit - especially when supplemented with a big platter of cookies.  It's a good thing there was a nice-sized pile of discount cookie dough in the freezer.
