Oatmeal Cookies


3/4 C. shortening
1 C. brown sugar
1/2 C. sugar
1 egg
1/4 C. water
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 C. flour
2 1/2 C. oats

Preheat oven to 375. Cream together shortening and sugars. Add egg, water, vanilla, salt and baking soda. Mix in flour and oats. Drop by teaspoonful onto cookie sheets and bake for 8-10 minutes.
