Timothy

Timothy is one of four new calves. His front leg muscles were weak, so The Farmer made him some "braces." He's walking better, and we hope he'll soon be romping around with the calves.

Julie,

A new blog - yeah! How fun to finally see your picture after reading and enjoying your newsletter for so long. Now I can keep up with life on your farm much more often.

Great job!

To strengthen muscles in weak newborns - I would suggest using a dose of BoSe. It is selinium. If muscles you see are weakened - then it is probable that muscles you don't see - like the heart - could also be weak.

Mnay areas of the country (and hence feeds) are selinium deficient - and it is very possible that area vets and extension offices are unaware of that.

It may not be the case for you - and this may not be the problem for your calf - but it is something I have often seen and few officals really understand.
Blessings,
Patti
