Blackberry Cobbler

I made this recipe one afternoon to share with a friend when she came for our book study.  If Blackberry Cobbler tastes any better than this in Heaven . . . WOW.

Blackberry Cobbler

1/2 C. butter
1 C. flour
1 C. sugar, divided
1 tabl. baking powder
1/8 tsp. salt
2/3 C. milk
1 - 16 oz. pkg. frozen blackberries, thawed

Melt butter in a 2 qt. casserole.  In a medium bowl, stir together blackberries and 1/2 cup of the sugar.  Let stand for 20 minutes or until syrup forms.  Combine flour, the remaining 1/2 cup of sugar, baking powder, salt and milk in a small mixing bowl; mix well.  Pour mixture over melted butter - DO NOT STIR.  Spoon blackberries over batter - DO NOT STIR.  Bake at 350 for 40 minutes or until golden brown.  Add whipped cream or ice cream, if desired (but it's so good you don't need it).
