Homemade Lemonade

I'm not a big fan of lemonade, but after I made this and Eli tasted it, his response was:  "This is the best lemonade I've ever tasted in my life!"  High praise.

Homemade Lemonade

3/4 C. sugar
1 C. water
1 C. fresh lemon juice (4-6 large lemons or 8-10 small lemons)
5-6 C. cold water to dilute (I used 6 cups)

Make a simple syrup by heating the sugar and 1 cup of water in a saucepan until sugar is completely dissolved.  Squeeze the lemons to make 1 cup of juice.  Add the juice and sugar water together in a pitcher.  Stir in the 5-6 C. of cold water.  Refrigerate.

To top it off you need to place a few lemon slices in the pitcher and let them float on top of your lemonade.

That would look pretty - I think my mom used to float orange slices on top, too.

I always have homemade lemonade in the fridge in the summer along with sun tea. They both are so refreshing on a hot day!
