We set our eyes not on
what we see but on what we cannot see.
What we see will last only a short time, but what we cannot see will
last forever. – II Corinthians 4:18
Whatever good things we see, taste, or experience here on
earth are but shadows of things to come.
Don’t hold too tightly to them.
They were not made for such.
These earthly shadows are elusive things – difficult to catch, to hold
on to. They are meant rather to
point us to things ahead, better things.
Shadows of the earth point to realities of Heaven, constantly
whispering, “These gifts are good, but don’t forget - the Best is yet to
come.” So give thanks – for God
uses these shadows every day to encourage us to remember Him, to remember Home.
